Sport as a partnership between schools and parents

January 18th 2017

Yesterday my boy (and I) were interviewed about his school sport. It wouldn't ever have happened without the fantastic relationships between parents and the school- it was instigated by a parent who saw we were losing students to schools that offered it as a sport, and backed by the principal who had some opposition from concerned members of the school community- but for us this is a great sport for our boy with autism. It has a full risk assessment and sign off from DoE, but more importantly for me as a parent of an additional needs child it gives him confidence and a reason to go to school on Thursdays! So thank you Suellen.
